My oh my does time fly by!
I can’t believe that it has been six months since Melody was born. Time just flies like nobody’s business, thats for sure.
I wrote about what I used to do with Melody a few months ago, and thought it would be a good time to talk about what she has been up to now.
It is safe to say that every baby grows in their own unique way and at their own pace.
Melody for example hates to sit! Oh, yeah my little bundle of opinionated joy is already making up her mind about what she enjoys and what she doesn’t.

We decided to buy her the Fisher Price Sit-to-Stand Activity Center. Some said that she was too young for it but it was the only solution I had for Melody’s behavior.
It is a product that Melody has come to adore and so have I.
It gives her loads of entertainment and works on her hand eye coordination skills. Melody also loves to stand on the outside of this activity center and play with a different perspective.
I always support her from behind but Melody loves her independence, just like her mama and papa.
I, on the other hand, can use this activity center to teach her about the different colors and animals and just have a great time playing with my little one.

She also now has received the Mamas and Papas Booster Seat that has a play table you can add onto it.
This is a great tool for her to learn to about the joys of sitting and since she has the toys in front of her it encourages her to do just that.
You can take the toys off when its time to eat and then place them back on post-eating.
We are still reading loads of books everyday.

I want her to be familiar with books as much as possible, because reading is important, and I don’t want her reading on a digital screen.
I make sure that whatever books I purchase have a fun learning aspect as well as fun illustrations for her to enjoy.
Although many schools are starting to include iPads, computers, and all kinds of technology I feel as though I should try to keep it as simple as possible for as long as I can without all the screens.
I really have been trying to get Melody used to playing alone.
I love to play with her, do not get me wrong, it is the best time of my day but I want her to be able to use her imagination and entertain herself even in the most boring of situations.
This is a great skill for her to have because when the day comes and she goes to school there won’t be a person constantly giving her attention alone.
There will be many other students and she will need to be alone at times doing her own thing.
Leaving her in front of a screen was never an option for my husband and I either.
As a quick side note, I was a school teacher before becoming a stay at home mom, so this was something I learned from observing the other children.
I have also been taking her out for walks on sunny and clear sky days near the water. Just like we, adults, need a change of pace and view, so do our children.
She needs as much fresh air as I can possibly give her.
We love to have music time with her as well, since her father and I are both musicians, it is a necessity for her to know what music is from a young age.
We got her a small Disney Baby Piano so that she can slam around it and create her own music.
I also do still have the on-going conversations with her.
I talk about everything I do and try to not baby talk her, even though baby talk can be loads of fun, and I can make myself laugh at times.
I want her to absorb as much conversation as humanly possible. The more we talk to babies the more they learn and will want to talk back.
These are all the major big things I do with her, but there are the little things that I keep doing like tummy time to make sure that she on the right track of crawling.
She does love playing Peeka-Boo with a blanket and that causes a ton of laughter for all parties involved.
And let’s never forget the joyous everyday singing, dancing and looking like a fool to keep my Mel as happy and as entertained as can be.
Well, hope this helps you guys, and I would love to hear about your playtime changes with your young ones, so make sure you leave a comment or message me on my instagram!
