Peeing and Pooping and Puking — Oh My!
Oh the Joys of Motherhood
I know for a fact that many people think motherhood is nothing but a joyous, wondrous, selfie-inducing affair — which it is for the most part.
There are many parts that mothers love to leave out of their daily instagram posts and stories, so I thought I would share some funny and unexpected moments that I’ve had with Melody.
As I have talked about before, Melody and I have some great moments; story-time, play-time, and bath-time fun.
On the other hand, we have accidental puking, fountain peeing, and poop-tacular explosions!
Puking happens maybe once a week.
Sometimes it’s because of an upset stomach or eating way too much and she didn’t realize it — can’t blame her for that — but let’s be honest it is mostly because of me.
I have a tendency to forget that she just ate a whole lot of food and I quickly pick her up and start moving all over the house doing a million things and then — BAM! projectile puke all over herself and me and everything within reach.
Lovely…
I mean, I have a slight moment of panic and then I just laugh so hard it hurts — because let’s face it — it’s hilarious.
It even happened right after I had just put Mel in a super cute dress for her two month old photoshoot.
I sometimes change my shirt around four to five times because she releases small bits of milk every 30 minutes, which turns into a long day of laundry and clean up.
As for the pee, well its quiet funny because at the hospital when I was getting released they had a midwife come and talk to me about the ins and outs of having my first baby.
The funniest part is that she told me that I wouldn’t have to worry about the pee because I have a baby girl.
Well, you can trust me on this, baby girls can fountain pee just like baby boys — see gender equality at its finest — so, all you expecting moms out there, whether you have a girl or boy protect yourself during diaper changes because anything can happen.
I am not going to go into the gory details of poop explosions because yes, they are gory, since you can basically figure out what I mean by the label I’ve given it.
The best times, though, are the times when Melody choreographs them together in-synchronous action and you have no idea what to block and how to stop any of it from happening.
Honestly, these disasters do happen, not often but they do and can happen….
But, this is part of the process.
We are parents and have to help our little ones when they cannot help themselves.
Motherhood is definitely a roller coaster ride.
You have your ups and your downs and you can’t really know what you are going to get once your day starts.
But, you can definitely know that it is an adventure like no other, because at the end of the day what’s life without peeing and puking and pooping?
